Close your eyes and I will describe the weather and feeling in the air here in Las Vegas. Picture a front porch with people gather and chat whilst drinking some sun iced tea. You have old women fanning themselves with fans, old men comparing the days work, both having a glistening of perspiration on their skin. It is very muggy here, I think of the south when the weather is this way. My thoughts are turned to a trip I took with by best friend at the time to New Orleans. I remember being so excited to go on this new adventure (before I go on thank you Mom and Dad for letting and giving me this opportunity). I walked off the plane in New Orleans and began to wonder what I had done, I could not breath, it felt like I was drowning right there walking through the airport. That very night we went to a softball game for one of the cousins we were visiting and I thought this is crazy, there is more water than air and people live here. I don't think I ever truly was dry that vacation but I had a marvelous time. I don't know how you can visit New Orleans and not have a good time. There is Oak Alley, Bourbon Street, the Street Car and of course Cafe du monde with beignets. I have fond memories of that summer with the good times with a very good friend.

I've heard the phrase a day late and a dollar short, but this week my new saying should be "a day early with $10 bucks in my pocket". I called to wish Katie and Eliza a Happy Birthday a day early, I thought Thursday was Friday and now Saturday is going way to fast.
The sights seen this week on my commute. There have been 2 accidents, one bird taking a bath in a puddle of water, kids at the bus stop, one dog walking it's owner, 3 bums, one family coming out of Subway with cheers. Each week I see so many things on my way to work, some make me laugh, so make me say um, so make me cry, but over all it keeps me entertained.

I wish all a very happy Memorial Day weekend. I remember this weekend growing up. This was the time of year Grandma and Grandpa Nelson would be to our home ready with buckets in the trunk to fill with Iris out of our yard, then we would pile into the Blue Olds and off to decorate the graves. We would visit the Sandy, City, Wasatch Lawn cemetery's and along the way cousins would join in. Once the graves were properly cleaned and flowers place about we would head back to Grandpa and Grandma Nelsons home for a summer picnic in the backyard. Truly I was blessed with a wonderful childhood filled with family memories.
Happy Memorial Day to everyone!

What a wonderful weekend. Sun + Friends = a good time.
We had a wonderful visit and dinner on Friday night with Pam and the Farr's. Each time we get together there is much laughter. We hit a new buffet this time and I have to say any buffet that has a chocolate fountain with marshmallows is a fine buffet for me. Saturday Rain went golfing and shot a 97 if I remember correctly, way to go!!!! I spent the morning in the backyard watering each flower and squash plants, I figure it does not hurt to talk to them, I just have to do it in low tones, I don't want to be known as the lady who talks to her plants. We had beautiful sunshine all day and the Vitamin D felt so good. Sunday brought church and naps for our household. I have to say my usually very quiet kid in primary was a chatty cathy during sharing time ugh how many times can you say shhhhh before you go crazy yourself. I do have to give major props to my team teacher on her lesson of the Law of Consecration, seriously a great job. One of my kiddos is not doing so well, she is in the hospital with some major issues I ask for prayers for Baily that the doctors may be able to help her.
As I got up this morning the peacocks were singing so loudly it made me laugh, then the quail got going and the cat next door howling, love the wild life.
Last but not least I have to send out a HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KATIE AND ELIZA !!!!!! I love you both so much and wish you a wonderful day filled with great memories.

Thought for the day:

On the eve of Las Vegas day what do we have in plan. Yes, that would be Survivor, Hells Kitchen, and Greys Anatomy. I did work in the movie Taken, I will recommend with two thumbs up. Today was a beautiful day in Vegas, the sun was out and the peacocks were singing as I watered my flowers this morning. My house is clean thank you Rain, so the weekend come on. The best part of this work day. We received a shipment of 30 pounds of fresh caught Salmon straight from Valdez, Alaska. Yes these beauties caught yesterday morning and sent to our office, we all were able to take home a dinners worth. My taste buds are just waiting for that wonderful dinner tomorrow night, maybe we will eat out on our back porch?
Another perfect day, ahhhhh. Good Night

What a wonderful weekend. Weather was/is wonderful, company was/is enjoyable, food was tasty, time went way to fast.
Do you ever have Joe Racer speed by you on the road, and don't you just wish for a cop to be around. Well it happened on my drive home Friday night. I was headed down the 95 at the correct speed along with the others on the road. There was a cop traveling with us. One glance in my rear view mirror brought my attention to Joe Racer coming up quite quickly. The weaving in and out of traffic was most impressive in his little convertible. Well he passed me by and weaved another two time. Once in the HOV lane Mr Cop pulled over and right behind him with lights and siren. As I passed by my voice screamed Yes, you got him! I really don't wish others bad luck, but I really get irritated with speeders on my freeway weaving in and out.
Friday night we spent home with a simple dinner and watching the movie Happy Feet. I highly suggest this movie to anyone, I will be searching for the sound track this next week. I was a good make you feel Happy movie. Hence the name I am sure.
Saturday, well we woke up rather late. Rain got up at 8am and I at 9am. Where did the whole day go. I finished my Primary lesson with a trip to Desert Book to get an Ensign for each of my kiddos in Primary, our lesson was following the words of the Prophet, hopefully they will read the Ensign that contained all the conference talks from April 2008. We are very blessed, our Prophet was able to speak more than once in this last conference, be happy, be virtuous, speak kindly, study your scriptures, parents make sure your children know you love them, children honor your parents. Those are just a few of the things he said.
Saturday night we went to a party with friends. So much wonderful food. Ham, chicken, meatballs, funeral potato's, pickled cucumbers, orzo, veggies, melon, and of course dessert. We all chatted and plays some Wii bowling. I have to say Dorothy and Rain have a serious competition going. It is a comfort to know such truly good people to associate with.
Sunday a beautiful day, we each went to our respective churches. This Sunday had the the wife's of our Bishop and his counselors speaking and the Primary singing. I have to say the Primary Children did a wonderful job, much better than we did when I was younger. Lunch and a nap took up the afternoon, then I went out to plant some more flowers in my planter box. I have my bit of heaven in my backyard. I am truly grateful for this piece of land we have made beautiful and we get to enjoy. I have to say the blooming Jasmine was all kind of fragrant this evening.
We survived the Amazing race a bit sad, I wanted the mother and son to win, but no such luck.

After a busy weekend I just need to wish all the mothers I know a very happy day and to have many many memories made this next year.

Derby and a Fight

Ready set go...... yes that is what April did and now I find myself in the month of May. We did not have showers but I sure do have flowers in my back yard. I only hope and say a tiny prayer each watering that they will survive through the heat that is coming this week. I do have to go and get some ladybugs for my roses, they will be so spoiled rotten eating all the aphids there. It seems that marigolds do not help keep the aphids away,,,,
Saturday brought two great sporting events. First we had our fancy hats on and our favorite drinks in hand while watching the amazing Kentucky Derby. This year the winner "Mine the bird" came from dead last to the front by many lengths to win the Derby. This horse was brought from New Mexico in a horse trailer by his trainer.
I said to Rain that we need to save our pennies and make the trip in the coming years to the Derby where I can wear a ridiculously large hat and not be stared at.
Saturday night we had a fight party. You say who was fighting? Well it was Pacquiao vs. Hatton. The Filipino vs the Brit. We had BBQ corn and hamburgers, baked beans, ambrosia salad, 7-layer dip, chips, soda, cake, peanuts, and homemade German meatballs. The food was parade of happiness dancing around in our mouth and the guests, well they are the best. It is good to have such wonderful friend to get together with. Well let's say the party was longer than the fight. Round one, Pacquiao had some wonderful hits, then came Round two one left hand hit the the chin and night night to the Brit. Much celebration in the Pioquinto House!!!!!!
What a wonderful weekend, really great weather, tasty food, and good friends.
We are so blessed.
